Fusion Con | Visual Identity for college fest

Overview

In my 3rd year at NID, I led a team of 10 to create the visual identity for ‘Fusion-Con’ our college Design Event. From brainstorming the name to building an identity that’s relatable for all students and faculty, we took all our ideas to deliver a cohesive and impactful visual identity.

The Theme

The theme FUSION-con aims to bring together different people, ideas, cultures and disciplines. At the first glance, it creates a sense of curiosity, a desire to look for something meaningful among the uncertain. It provides a hidden and deeper meaning to something abstract. Built of two parts, the theme can have multiple interpretations. The word can mean something entirely different if one goes past the surface. the two parts of the word can have separate ideas behind them where con can mean a concept, a convention or a connection. similarly fusion can mean the union of cultures, conflicting ideas and people.

  • fusion of disciplines

  • fusion of two contrasting ideas

Pool of ideas

From an enormous pool of ideas we choose those which conveyed our message the most. Together we brainstormed on colors and common assets that will be used throughout the identity

Iterating away

Upon a unanimous decision, we divided ourselves into small groups according to art styles and common themes and created 4 broad assets to use in the identity. The main event-poster was made by me and this is how the design progressed!

Final Assets for the identity

These are the final designs for the main event posters for different mediums- print and digital. After this we had sub-event posters, prints and email invitations, social media content and promo videos. Each team worked on each of these deliverables.
